For DSLR cameras, I like Nikon because I have one. There’s a lot to do within the camera that you can adjust. I like it mostly because the shutter speed is super fast.
Canon is good if you just want an DSLR for the picture quality and don’t want to bother playing with and figuring out the controls. Canon is easier to use than Nikon too.
I’ve never had a compact Nikon or Canon, but my friend’s Cannon powershot was ok. It’s nothing super great…I would only get a Cannon DSLR, not a compact.
If I were to get a compact camera, I would get a Lumix LX5 because it has a Leica lens, and you can use it like an DSLR by adding different lenses if you wanted to. It looks pretty hipster-ish too. There’s Lumix GF3 too, which I heard is pretty good. It comes in different colors and it’s pretty too haha.
